This release contains new features as well as bugfixes and stabilizing efforts.
The most important features in comparison to release 1.5.6 are:
1. Initial support for map calculations. So you can calculate a map
changing qz and energy at once. So far, there is only a file output. It is saved under map.txt.
You can plot it immediately for example with gnuplot using the command
set pm3d map
set logscale cb
splot “map.txt” u 1:2:3
2. The magnetization must now be enabled separately. The configuration is in the settings frame. So, to compare old calculations be sure that you have activated the magnetization. Since this release the full matrix formalism supports the magnetization too. The magneti-optical constant is directly written in the off diagonal elements of the epsilon-tensor.
3. One year before I tested several error definitions to get a better reflectivity fit but with now luck. Now I have found an “advanced” error definition for some cases but which needs further testing. The measurement multiplicator is the only linear term in the equations. Therefore it can be easily minimized by linear regression. I have defined a new error definition in which the measurement multiplicator is minimized every iteration optimally to get a better fit. This feature can be activated in the fit dialog.
4. For all console users I added a terminal application “ReMagX_Terminal.exe”. This can be used for a immediate output of the calculations. Start it in a terminal to get the options dialog. I can compile it for linux if somebody is interested.
5. The new release was tested and compared against release 1.4.3. The results are identical for a angular resolution of zero. For non-zero resolution maybe a small adaption of the angular resolution is necessary
6. There was a significant error in the Zak algorithm concerning the magnetization direction leading to wrong results for non-longitudinal magnetization. This is corrected.
There are other changes. Look in the changes part for a short summary.
